Approximately 50 individuals were involved in a violent altercation outside a pub, reportedly linked to a far-right group. The incident took place outside the Red Lion Pub on Whitehall Road in Bristol, prompting a police response around 3:30 pm. Witnesses observed two opposing groups engaged in a confrontation.
Photographs captured a group of people wearing dark attire, many with hoods up, waving Saint George’s Cross flags outside the pub. Witnesses reported that the pub’s staff and patrons were harassed by individuals donning face coverings and displaying flags associated with far-right ideologies. Additionally, a black van adorned with a Union Jack was parked nearby.
Video footage showed a large group of individuals, also concealing their faces, exchanging blows and attempting to kick others. Police officers intervened to disperse the crowd. Avon and Somerset Police stated that their intervention prevented a breach of peace, and the groups disbanded by approximately 4:30 pm.
No arrests were made at the scene, but authorities are reviewing CCTV and body-camera recordings to identify any criminal activities. A police van remained stationed on the street following the dispersal of the groups. The police have urged anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
The police spokesperson detailed the event, stating, “About 50 individuals were involved in a disturbance on Whitehall Road, Redfield, Bristol, on Sunday, February 15, around 3:30 pm. Two groups with opposing viewpoints were engaged in a street altercation, which necessitated police intervention to maintain peace. The groups dispersed by around 4:30 pm.”
