“Sky Introduces Device Priority Feature for UK Internet Users”

Date:

Sky has introduced a new feature called Device Priority for its internet users in the UK. This upgrade allows customers to control the internet speeds allocated to each of their devices. For instance, if you need to join an important Zoom call but other devices at home are consuming bandwidth, Device Priority lets you prioritize your device for optimal performance.

According to Sky, prioritizing devices for activities like wearable tech, home appliances, working remotely, 4K streaming, or gaming ensures that users can maximize their WiFi experience. The prioritized device will receive the best performance while other devices remain active but with lower priority.

With the increasing number of connected devices in households, this update is considered significant. Sky’s research indicates that households now have an average of 21 internet-connected gadgets, leading to potential congestion issues. Device Priority aims to alleviate clashes and disagreements over internet usage.

Device Priority is included in Sky’s WiFi Max service at no extra charge. Users can access this feature through the MySky App and prioritize a device for up to 8 hours. In addition to Device Priority, Sky Broadband’s WiFi Max service offers features such as WiFi guarantee, advanced security, parental controls, engineer visits, and integration with Sky Mobile.

For users not currently subscribed to WiFi Max, Device Priority can be added for an additional £4 per month.
