A serious accident has led to the closure of a major UK motorway. Emergency services responded to the incident on the M60, resulting in one person sustaining severe injuries. The clockwise section of the motorway has been temporarily shut down.
National Highways announced the closure of the M60 clockwise stretch between J25 and J26 due to a significant collision involving two vehicles. Delays of up to 40 minutes beyond regular travel time were reported as emergency services and Traffic Officers managed the situation.
Traffic congestion on the M60 has subsided to about 15 minutes, with traffic flow gradually improving. A three-mile backup on the M60 was documented following the earlier crash.
National Highways attributed the delays on the M60 to a “serious collision” between two cars, with Greater Manchester Police and other emergency services on site to handle the situation. An air ambulance was also observed at the crash site near Bredbury.
Reports indicated that one man suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, while another individual sustained injuries in the incident. Greater Manchester Police responded to the two-vehicle collision near junctions 25 and 26 in Stockport.
National Highways provided a diversion plan for road users, advising them to follow the designated diversion symbol on road signs.
In light of the circumstances, delays were anticipated on the affected route.
