In a bustling city center in the UK, a teenage girl fell victim to a sexual assault, prompting the police to seek a man captured in an image for questioning. The incident occurred on Westgate Street near a McDonald’s restaurant in Gloucester on January 7. The 17-year-old girl reported that she was forcibly touched by a man who had pulled her into a shop entrance and attempted to kiss her.
Authorities are actively investigating the case to identify the perpetrator who made unwanted physical contact beneath the girl’s clothing before she managed to fend him off. Gloucestershire Police disclosed that a group of males intervened during the assault. The police further revealed that the victim did not recognize the assailant but estimated his age to be around 17 or 18. To aid in their investigation, the police have released CCTV footage of the male suspect and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
The law enforcement agency stated, “A CCTV image of a male has been released by the police for questioning in relation to a sexual assault in Gloucester. An investigation is ongoing following a report that a male inappropriately touched a 17-year-old girl without her consent.”
Detailing the encounter, the police added, “The victim had some familiarity with the male, having engaged in a brief conversation with him. However, the situation escalated when the male dragged her into a shop doorway, embraced her, and made unwelcome advances by touching her body under her clothing and beneath her undergarments.”
“After the victim protested and removed his hand, a group of males intervened and instructed him to desist. The girl was able to leave the scene with her friends. The incident transpired on Westgate Street, near McDonald’s, between 7 pm and 8 pm on Wednesday, January 7.”
“Following extensive inquiries, the police are now seeking to speak with the individual depicted in the CCTV image regarding the incident. Although unknown to the victim, the male is believed to be in his late teens. Anyone recognizing the individual or possessing relevant information about the assault is urged to contact the police through the official website or by calling 101, quoting incident number 298 from January 8.”
