“Ceasefire Crumbles as Middle East Conflict Escalates”

Date:

Despite a two-week ceasefire declared by Donald Trump, the death toll from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continued to mount.

Israel carried out airstrikes on populated areas in Lebanon without warning, resulting in at least 254 fatalities and 1,165 injuries, as reported by Lebanon’s Civil Defence.

The ceasefire, which sparked confusion over its scope regarding Israel and Hezbollah, quickly unraveled. Israel persisted in bombing Beirut, resulting in the deadliest day since the conflict began on February 28.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed continued strikes against Hezbollah, emphasizing the need for security in the north. Netanyahu clarified that the agreement did not cover Lebanon, leading to tensions with Iran, which promptly closed and reopened the vital Strait of Hormuz.

Images from Lebanon depicted widespread destruction, with rescuers working tirelessly to save lives. The death toll climbed, with 91 victims in Beirut alone.

Iran’s President voiced skepticism over the ceasefire’s viability, warning against deception and urging commitment to agreements. The conflict has claimed over 5,000 lives since its onset on February 28.

Human rights groups reported significant casualties in Iran, Lebanon, and Israel, with fatalities also recorded in Iraq and neighboring countries such as Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
