Iranian Regime’s Execution Sparks Global Outcry

Date:

The recent execution of 18-year-old Amirhossein Hatami by the Iranian regime has sparked widespread criticism. Hatami was hanged on Thursday in Tehran under the accusation of attempting to set fire to a government building, a claim disputed by his family and friends who say he was a peaceful protester and aspiring musician. His loved ones released a touching video showing Hatami singing, honoring the memory of friends who died during the January uprisings.

The execution of Hatami, labeled a symbol of national resistance, has fueled anger among the Iranian population, according to Vahid Beheshti, a veteran hunger striker. Beheshti emphasized that such actions by the regime only serve to provoke further unrest and resistance among the people. The regime’s attempts to instill fear through such executions may backfire, as the population grows increasingly discontented with the current state of affairs.

Hatami’s case was handled by the notorious Branch 15 of the revolutionary court, presided over by the hardline judge Abolqasem Salavati, known as the “Judge of Death.” The court’s proceedings, including forced confessions and biased judgments, have raised concerns about the lack of fair trial standards and due process.

Amnesty International and other human rights organizations have condemned the executions and highlighted the use of the judiciary as a tool of repression to stifle dissent and maintain control. The crackdown on protesters and dissidents following the January uprisings has resulted in a wave of harsh sentences, including death penalties, based on coerced confessions.

The international community and anti-regime organizations based in Europe fear that more protesters could face similar fates, with over 100 individuals at risk of being sentenced to death and executed. The ongoing human rights violations and lack of accountability within the Iranian judicial system have drawn widespread condemnation and calls for justice.
