Terrifying new video footage captures the moment a criminal group sets ablaze a residence, leading a mother and her daughter to leap from a window. The mother and daughter sustained severe burns in the retaliatory arson incident in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, resulting in ten men facing potential imprisonment.
Following an attack on the 31-year-old woman, the gang ignited her house using a petrol bomb, compelling the mother and her 13-year-old daughter to escape through an upstairs window. The mother, with 65% burns, endured a two-month coma but miraculously survived, albeit with life-altering injuries necessitating ongoing medical care.
The teenage girl suffered burns on her right arm and leg due to the fire on December 16, 2021. After an 11-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, the 10 men were found guilty in connection to the assault, which was a vengeful act following a fight that left one man hospitalized with stab wounds.
The court proceedings revealed that a confrontation involving Naveed Hussain, Bilal Ahmed, Kashif Ahmed, and Ali Abbas occurred in the Longton neighborhood of the city on the same day. Subsequently, a group of men visited the house in the evening, assaulting the mother and causing property damage with petrol.
To evade the danger, the mother and her daughter broke the bedroom window upstairs and jumped out, resulting in the mother sustaining multiple injuries. The perpetrators, including Shakil Uddin, Lukman Khan, Riyadh Iqbal, Muhammad Sufyaan-Shah, Tayyeb Majeed, Ali Abbas, Haris Mahmood, Naveed Hussain, Kashif Ahmed, and Bilal Ahmed, were convicted for various charges related to the incident.
Staffordshire Police highlighted the extensive investigative efforts involving CCTV footage and digital evidence to ensure justice for the victims. Detective Constable Howard Davies of the Major Investigations Department emphasized the thoroughness of the investigation and the commitment to holding all involved parties accountable for their actions.
