Huntley, infamous for the Soham murders, is currently in critical condition after being attacked by another inmate at HMP Frankland, requiring urgent medical attention.
The alleged attacker, a male prisoner in his mid-40s, is suspected of perpetrating the assault but has not been formally arrested yet, as confirmed by authorities. Witnessed by fellow inmates who applauded, the assailant was swiftly removed from the scene by prison guards.
According to an insider interviewed by The Sun, the assault unfolded rapidly in a workshop setting, with the attacker verbally confronting Huntley before viciously striking him multiple times with the metal object. The severity of the assault has left Huntley with significant injuries, prompting immediate medical care.
Huntley, a former caretaker, was convicted for the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, an infamous case that shook the nation. The recent incident occurred at HMP Frankland in Durham, where Huntley was assaulted, sustaining head injuries that necessitated hospital treatment.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities disclosing that the 52-year-old prisoner, believed to be Huntley, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
