“Ian Huntley in Serious Condition After Brutal Prison Assault”

Date:

Police have provided an important update on the status of Ian Huntley, the infamous Soham killer, following a brutal assault at HMP Frankland prison in County Durham. Huntley, 52, was attacked with a metal pole in a workshop and subsequently taken to the hospital. As of Sunday afternoon, Durham Constabulary reported that there have been no changes in Huntley’s condition, with the child murderer remaining in a serious state. Sources indicated that Huntley was facing a slim 5% chance of survival post-attack.

A spokesperson confirmed that the 52-year-old assailant is still hospitalized in a serious condition without any improvements overnight. The incident occurred when Anthony Russell, a triple killer, allegedly proclaimed, “I’ve done it, I’ve done it,” after repeatedly striking Huntley at HMP Frankland last Thursday.

Notably, Huntley infamously murdered 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002 in Soham, Cambridgeshire. Russell, on the other hand, was sentenced to a whole-life tariff in 2021 for the murders and rape of three individuals. Huntley has been the target of previous attacks, including a 2010 incident where he was slashed by a fellow inmate.

The recent assault on Huntley involved him being hit up to 15 times with a metal pole while occupied in the workshop, resulting in a broken jaw, severe brain, and skull injuries. Currently, Huntley is receiving treatment in the hospital and is connected to a ventilator.
