Condolences are being expressed for a security guard known as a ‘gentle giant’ who was allegedly stabbed at a shopping center.
Law enforcement and emergency responders were summoned to Centre MK in Milton Keynes on Saturday, February 28, evening following reports of a stabbing incident.
Despite medical professionals’ efforts to save him, the 52-year-old victim was declared deceased at the scene. The man has been identified locally as Gary Stanley, a security guard. Known as Stan to his acquaintances, he is reported to have left behind a wife, son, and two grandchildren.
A 50-year-old man from Towcester has been taken into custody by police on suspicion of murder and is currently being held. Authorities have informed the victim’s relatives, who are receiving support from trained family liaison officers.
Online tributes have flooded in for the security guard following his tragic demise, with friends and colleagues recalling his compassionate nature.
One tribute described Gary as a “gentle giant, someone who made you feel secure, irreplaceable.”
Another message hailed him as a “respected member” of the community, expressing sympathy for his family, friends, and all affected individuals. It emphasized that he departed prematurely but will always be remembered.
A colleague paid tribute, reminiscing about his composure, fairness, and humor, and questioning the senseless act of taking his life while he was simply performing his duties.
Another former coworker praised him as one of the most kind and professional Door Supervisors they had worked with, concluding with “Rest in peace, Stan.”
The coroner has been notified, although the victim has not been formally identified yet.
Chief Superintendent Emma Baillie, the Local Commander for Milton Keynes, stated, “We are at the initial stages of this murder inquiry, with one arrest made, and there is no active search for additional suspects at the moment.
“There is no perceived threat to the general public.
“The public may notice heightened police presence as we continue our investigation, and we encourage anyone with concerns to approach our uniformed officers.”
