“Britain Set for ‘Spring Sizzler’ with 19C Highs”

Date:

Britain is poised to enjoy a warm spell dubbed a ‘spring sizzler’ with temperatures expected to soar to 19C, potentially climbing even higher. Today is anticipated to be the hottest day of the year so far, with maximum temperatures ranging from 18C to 19C in certain areas and 16-17C more generally, according to the Met Office.

The morning’s misty and cool conditions are forecasted to dissipate across most of the country, paving the way for summer-like weather in many regions. However, some northern areas and Northern Ireland may experience rainfall. This unseasonably warm period is attributed to a surge of warmer air moving up from the Mediterranean.

Locations projected to experience temperatures of 18 to 19C include Kew Gardens, where temperatures reached 18.7C last week, marking the warmest day of the year so far. A few northern areas may encounter rain, but this is expected to clear eastward throughout the day.

Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick stated that a band of cloud and rain, potentially heavy at times, will affect western regions, moving eastwards. East of this system, mostly fine conditions are expected with plenty of sunny spells until the rain arrives in the east.

Friday is expected to be cloudier in much of England and Wales, while Northern Ireland and Scotland are likely to see more sunshine, with high temperatures of 11C-12C. The weekend is forecasted to bring a mix of patchy clouds and sunshine, with highs of 12C-13C on Saturday and 14C on Sunday.

Looking ahead, forecasters predict a return to colder temperatures from mid-next week. James Madden from Exacta Weather mentioned a potential “cold and wintry theme” arriving around mid-March, specifically on March 11, lasting for several to ten days.

Enjoy the sunny weather while it lasts, as a shift back to chilly temperatures is on the horizon.
