“Budget Airline Passengers Navigate Changing Baggage Rules”

Date:

Budget airline passengers face uncertainty when packing for flights due to changing baggage rules. To avoid unexpected fees, travelers must stay updated on luggage regulations before departure.

Apart from size and weight restrictions, holidaymakers should be aware of specific rules regarding smart bags with built-in batteries and USB ports. Ryanair, for instance, does not allow these bags in the hold if the battery remains inside, with a maximum battery capacity of 100Wh for cabin use.

For passengers preferring to check smart bags, Ryanair requires the removal of the lithium battery before drop-off. The battery must be carried in the cabin and not in checked baggage or overhead lockers. Bags with non-removable batteries are not permitted as checked luggage.

Furthermore, Ryanair has adjusted its policy for free under-seat bags, allowing for larger dimensions of up to 40x30x20cm. Additionally, the airline plans to extend airport check-in and bag drop times to 60 minutes before departure to ease passenger transit during peak travel periods.

In a lighthearted move, Ryanair humorously suggested the idea of charging talkative passengers on early morning flights to curb disturbances.
