Nigel Farage recently earned £27,800 by traveling to the United States to speak at a think tank connected to Donald Trump. His goal was to meet the president at his Florida property but that did not happen. Despite this, Farage still received substantial compensation, adding to the nearly £1.4 million he has received from external sources since his election. The leader of Reform UK addressed the Club for Growth in Washington DC, a group closely allied with Trump, which is actively supporting the President and his team for the upcoming mid-term elections in 2026.
Farage’s trip, detailed in the financial interests register, occurred a week ago, where he spoke to a powerful American organization that raised significant funds for Republican candidates in the 2024 election. The president of the Club for Growth emphasized their alignment with Trump’s strategies for the upcoming elections. Farage has faced criticism for spending limited time in Clacton, Essex, the constituency where he was elected as an MP in July 2024.
Jane Dodds, the Welsh Lib-Dem leader, criticized Reform UK during a recent conference for promoting “hate and division.” Farage has been repeatedly condemned for his lucrative overseas trips, often engaging with right-wing groups associated with Trump. His income from various sources exceeds his base MP salary of £93,000. Farage admitted to failing to declare a substantial amount of income from TV and speeches, attributing it to difficulties managing his affairs since becoming an MP.
Farage breached Commons rules by not disclosing payments promptly, totaling over £384,000. Despite these lapses, the parliamentary commissioner considered them unintentional and did not escalate the matter. Farage’s outside earnings surpass those of other MPs since the general election, amounting to £1.39 million in addition to his parliamentary salary.
Farage’s income includes payments from various sources, such as GB News, Direct Bullion, Cameo, Google, and others. He acknowledged his rule breaches, expressing regret and attributing them to the complexity of his interests. Despite the controversies, Farage maintains his commitment to his constituents, charity work, and political responsibilities. He remains confident in his register of interests and emphasizes his dedication to his duties as an MP and party leader.
