Sussexes Slam Author’s Allegations in New Book

Date:

A recent book author who alleged that Queen Camilla made a statement about Prince Harry being “brainwashed” by Meghan faced a strong rebuttal from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Tom Bower, a former BBC journalist, was the target of a sharp response from the couple, accusing him of harboring animosity towards them and crossing the line from criticism to obsession.

The Sussexes criticized Bower for his past comments calling for their “obliteration” and his negative remarks about their Invictus Games project. Bower defended his “obliteration” statement, explaining that he meant it in the context of wanting the couple to cease their public controversies and profit-driven actions that have damaged the royal family.

Regarding his criticism of the Invictus Games, Bower acknowledged the noble cause but expressed disappointment in what he perceived as shortcomings during the Vancouver and Whistler events. The couple’s spokesperson condemned Bower’s book, claiming it was driven by biased motives rather than a genuine understanding of the Invictus Games and its participants.

In his book “Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family,” Bower alleged that Camilla made the brainwashed comment in response to tensions between Harry, Meghan, Prince William, and Princess Kate. The book also detailed a confrontation between Meghan and Prince William after their wedding and highlighted the alleged rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.

Bower’s book delved into Harry’s growing concerns about his royal titles and his relationship with Meghan, suggesting that Harry feared repercussions from his family, especially as William ascends the throne. The book also touched on Harry’s perceived disillusionment with the monarchy following Andrew-Mountbatten Windsor’s scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein.

The Mirror reached out to Buckingham Palace and the Sussexes for comments, with Kensington Palace declining to respond. Bower’s book is currently being serialized in The Times.
