Sarah Ferguson’s charity, Sarah’s Trust, is facing dissolution in the coming weeks following its decision to halt operations indefinitely due to revelations uncovered in the Epstein Files. Established in 2020 to support underprivileged communities and education initiatives globally, the charity has now halted its activities due to the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew.
The Charity Commission, responsible for overseeing charities in England and Wales, has issued a “regulatory alert” concerning Sarah’s Trust. The alert indicates the Commission’s intention to dissolve the charity within three months unless a compelling reason is provided to prevent it.
In the past year, Sarah’s Trust experienced a significant decline in donations, with its income plummeting to £31,000 in 2024 from nearly £150,000 in the preceding year. Following the disclosure of the Epstein scandal, one of the trustees, Professor Ramzi Khamis, a prominent London heart surgeon, resigned shortly after Sarah Ferguson’s involvement was revealed in the Epstein emails.
Sarah Ferguson expressed her thoughts on the challenges faced by the charity and emphasized the importance of providing every child with the opportunity to thrive just before the Epstein scandal unfolded. Subsequently, seven charities severed ties with her as a patron or ambassador after an email from 2011 emerged, where she referred to Epstein as her “supreme friend” and seemed to express remorse for publicly criticizing him.
In her annual report submitted to the Charity Commission, Ferguson reflected on the past year’s struggles and reaffirmed her dedication to supporting medical charities and championing youth empowerment. Despite losing her royal title and experiencing setbacks, Sarah’s Trust remains committed to advocating for children’s welfare and education causes.
