A beloved father and former military member tragically lost control of his motorcycle, resulting in a fatal accident. Andrew Peak, aged 58, was riding his motorcycle on the M60 in a counterclockwise direction when he veered off the road between junctions 25 and 24 on July 12, 2025. Emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded to the scene following the incident.
An inquest held on Wednesday revealed that the cause of Andrew’s loss of control on the motorcycle remains unknown. Despite being rushed to Salford Royal Hospital for severe injuries, Andrew passed away two days later.
Born and raised in Wythenshawe, Andrew served in the Queen’s Fusiliers before pursuing a career as a Pest Control Manager at Manchester City Council. His son, George Peak, described Andrew’s lifelong passion for motorcycles and how he had recently acquired a Triumph bike, which he cherished.
The investigation by Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit found no faults with the motorcycle and ruled out involvement of other vehicles in the crash. CCTV footage showed Andrew on the outside lane before the accident occurred, but the exact speed at which he was traveling could not be determined.
Despite being in good health with no medical issues, Andrew tragically veered off the road before the collision. The coroner concluded that the accident was likely caused by a momentary lapse of concentration, leading to a road traffic collision.
Andrew’s family, friends, and former colleagues remembered him fondly, highlighting his positive impact on many lives. His family expressed gratitude towards Salford Royal Hospital and the North West Air Ambulance, intending to raise funds for the air ambulance charity in his memory.
