“Outbreak at La Plagne Ski Resort Sickens British School Children”

Date:

British school children are among numerous individuals who have become sick at a popular ski destination. Visitors in La Plagne, France, are receiving medical attention following an outbreak of gastrointestinal issues, leading to evacuations and containment at a sports facility.

The sickness is suspected to be caused by severe food poisoning, affecting tourists from Canada, Belgium, France, and the UK, although the exact source remains unknown. Currently, 409 students, 30 adults, and 70 staff members at a school are in isolation.

A gastroenteritis virus seems to have circulated in the resort since Monday, possibly due to close proximity off the slopes. Approximately 100 children are displaying symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea, with adults also falling ill. Emergency services have been mobilized to manage the situation.

Reports indicate that last week, hundreds of people experienced illness, with cases of vomiting and stomach discomfort. Concerned individuals have contacted health authorities for assistance in addressing the situation.

Additionally, teachers have shared past incidents of students falling ill during ski trips, underlining the disappointment and disruption caused by the current outbreak. The town mayor confirms that water supply checks have been conducted in response to the illnesses.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and await guidance from health agencies to determine necessary actions. Efforts are being made to prevent further spread of the illness and avoid drastic measures like lockdowns. The Mirror has reached out to the ski resort and local authorities for comments.
