“Stick mistaken for gun in police incident near Bolton pub”

Date:

Police were called to a situation where a man was reportedly seen carrying a gun near a pub. However, upon arrival, it was discovered that the object in question was actually a stick. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Beehive pub on Chorley New Road in Bolton on Easter Sunday afternoon. Responding to the call received around 12:30 pm, officers swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate the report of a male with a firearm.

A man in his 40s was apprehended under suspicion of possessing a firearm. Investigations revealed that the alleged firearm was, in fact, a stick, not a real gun, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the arrest, stating that the item was determined to be non-viable.

The Manchester Evening News reached out to the Beehive pub for comment, but the staff declined to provide any additional information.
