North Korea’s spy agency has officially confirmed the identification of Kim Jong-un’s successor, as reported in the latest update from South Korea. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) has provided a strong assessment indicating that a prominent figure within North Korea is poised to follow in Kim’s footsteps, continuing the lineage of leadership within the Communist regime. This individual, a rising political star within the nation, is expected to become the fourth-generation dictator, succeeding Kim, who assumed power from his father in 2011.
In a significant shift, the upcoming leader of North Korea will be Kim’s “most beloved” or “respected” child, marking a departure from the traditional leadership structure. During a closed-door briefing at the National Assembly, NIS director Lee Jong-seok mentioned that Kim’s daughter, known as Kim Ju Ae and believed to be 13 years old, is being considered as a potential successor. The NIS director also addressed concerns regarding Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, stating that she holds limited power within the regime.
The NIS has based its assessments on undisclosed “reliable intelligence,” emphasizing the evolving status of Kim’s daughter as a potential leader. Recent public appearances, including military activities supervised by her father, have fueled speculation about her future role. While some experts question the feasibility of a female leader in North Korea’s male-dominated society, the NIS remains steadfast in its analysis of the succession plan.
