Detective Superintendent Vows Relentless Pursuit for Epstein Truth

Date:

A high-ranking officer leading the investigation into the Epstein files has pledged to be unwavering in the quest for truth and justice. Detective Superintendent Simon Hurst, who heads the Anti-Corruption Unit of Greater Manchester Police, is supervising a nationwide examination of documents that triggered numerous criminal inquiries throughout the UK. Hurst, granted PIP4 status for this task, possesses the authority to concentrate on overseeing “the strategic management of the highly intricate, high-profile, or major crime investigations.”

He is part of a newly formed national specialized team tasked with uncovering instances of violence against women in the documents linked to the US child-trafficker. However, Hurst is also committed to investigating any other potential criminal activities that may surface from the batch of documents disclosed by the US Department of Justice last month.

In a recent post on LinkedIn, Hurst expressed his gratitude for being entrusted with such crucial work, assuring that he and his team will persist relentlessly in their pursuit of truth and justice.

Epstein, the convicted sex offender, had connections to prominent figures in the UK, including the former Duke of York, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. He also had ties to Labour figure Peter Mandelson and reportedly visited Buckingham Palace. Both Mandelson and Andrew have denied any involvement in Epstein’s illicit activities. Epstein passed away in prison in 2019 at the age of 66 while awaiting trial on charges of child trafficking.

Several police forces in the UK have confirmed their involvement in probing potential crimes related to Epstein within their jurisdictions. A national support group established in February to assist these investigations recently announced a dedicated focus on allegations of violence against women and girls.

This group has been reaching out to potential victims, including individuals who previously shared their stories with media outlets like BBC Newsnight and Good Morning Britain. Chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Claire Bell, the group aims to assess the extent and nature of potential offenses within the files, emphasizing a coordinated approach to gathering and evaluating intelligence.

Bell highlighted the meticulous scrutiny of the extensive volume of documents, acknowledging the potential challenges and trauma faced by those impacted. She emphasized the importance of conducting thorough assessments to safeguard the integrity of potential investigations while prioritizing the safety, well-being, and confidence of victims.

Collaborating with the National Crime Agency and other relevant entities, the coordination group will work in tandem with specialized task forces to address the complexity and sensitivity of these matters. Bell stressed the equal priority given to all potential crimes, reaffirming their commitment to supporting victims and survivors and upholding public trust.

In the US, calls have been made for Mountbatten-Windsor to address his connections to Epstein, though he has denied any misconduct. Pressure has also mounted for Ferguson to provide testimony regarding her association with Epstein, following revelations from documents released by the Department of Justice.

Recent reports indicated continued communication between Ferguson and Epstein shortly before his release from jail in Florida for soliciting sex with minors. Both Mandelson and Mountbatten-Windsor were arrested separately by police last month in connection to sharing information with Epstein and were subsequently released pending further investigation.
