“Drug Dealer’s ‘Turkey Teeth’ Selfie Leads to Arrest”

Date:

A drug dealer inadvertently led police to his arrest by sending a selfie to his friend showcasing his newly acquired “Turkey teeth.” Coran Davies proudly displayed his bright new teeth in the photo he sent while at the dentist’s office. However, conversations between the two friends revealed discussions about dealing cocaine and cannabis, unbeknownst to Davies that his friend’s phone was already under police investigation.

Law enforcement officers used facial recognition technology on the image to track down Davies, leading to his arrest. South Wales Police disclosed that a previous search warrant executed in Treherbert, Wales, uncovered an ounce of cocaine, cannabis, and drug-related items. Months later, in March 2025, Davies, 23, was apprehended while driving a black Ford Fiesta in Tonypandy, Rhondda. His passenger, Dale Howell, 25, was also arrested, and both were found in possession of cocaine, cannabis, and a substantial amount of cash.

Subsequently, Davies and Howell were sentenced on Thursday, April 9, for drug trafficking and possession offenses. They admitted guilt to the charges and appeared before the Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court. Davies received a 48-month prison term, while Howell was sentenced to 36 months behind bars.

In a statement, South Wales Police highlighted the case, stating that the two men from Rhondda were imprisoned for drug supply offenses. Davies’ arrest was facilitated by the use of facial recognition technology on the image he shared with his friend. The investigation revealed their involvement in drug trafficking activities, leading to their convictions.
