“UK Set for April Heat Surge: 28 Counties to Hit 20C+”

Date:

Temperatures are set to soar in up to 28 counties across the UK, with weather forecasting maps indicating that the mercury could reach 20C and above soon. The ECMWF weather model suggests a heat surge approaching later this month, with some regions potentially seeing temperatures rising as high as 23C.

The maps highlight that the peak temperatures are expected in the south-east of England and along the southern coast on April 29. However, warm conditions are also anticipated in East Anglia, the Midlands, and parts of Wales.

Northern regions won’t be left out in the cold either, as the ECMWF model forecasts highs of 18C in Northern Ireland and southern Scotland, and 16C in the Scottish Highlands.

The real heat is predicted to be felt in the southern areas. The maps identify 28 counties where temperatures could hit 20C or higher on April 29.

The Met Office indicates that “high pressure” could dominate towards the end of the month, though there is a possibility of unseasonal April snow. Their forecast for April 21 to 30 suggests dry weather and sunny spells initially, with some scattered showers in central and eastern areas.

The east coast might experience cooler conditions with low cloud and a sea breeze, while western regions could feel quite warm, especially in sunlit spots. Unsettled weather is expected to return by the weekend, with potential wintry showers along northern and eastern coasts and snow over Scottish mountains. However, this spell is likely to be brief before high pressure attempts to make a comeback towards the end of the month.
