“Inquiry Launched Over Antisemitic Influencer Videos”

Date:

Police are conducting an inquiry following the circulation of online videos depicting influencers engaging in abhorrent antisemitic behavior towards strangers on the streets. Reports suggest that individuals are recording offensive interactions, often discreetly using smart glasses, and then sharing the footage on various social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube.

One now-deleted video captured a person approaching a young man in traditional Jewish attire, offering him a pound coin while making derogatory remarks. Another clip, believed to be filmed in London, showed the camera operator using offensive aliases and harassing individuals in the Jewish community.

Two users involved in these incidents have been banned from TikTok. The Mirror has reached out to Google, the owner of YouTube, for comments on this matter. Labour MP Sarah Sackman identified some of the videos as being filmed in Golders Green, a significant Jewish community area within her constituency.

Rabbi Levi Schapiro from the Jewish Community Council called for swifter action to combat the dissemination of such harmful antisemitic content online. He has urged major social media platforms to take more effective measures in removing hateful material.

Following these events, the police have launched an investigation into the antisemitic social media videos in Stamford Hill and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards hate crimes and urged the public to report any related incidents promptly.
