A father being hailed as a hero for preventing a Manchester-bound Jet2 flight from being diverted credits his eight-year-old son as the true hero of the situation. James Rose, a 42-year-old from Salford, along with his son Phoenix, successfully calmed down a disruptive passenger on a flight from Izmir, Turkey, last Friday.
According to passenger John Henderson, the flight experienced a delay of 50 minutes due to passenger transfers from a canceled service. Trouble started about 30 minutes into the flight when a woman began behaving aggressively after her own alcohol was confiscated by cabin crew.
Mr. Rose, identifying himself as the man who intervened, requested to speak to the woman and managed to keep her calm throughout the flight. He acknowledged his son’s role in the situation, highlighting Phoenix’s exceptional behavior in engaging with the woman and assisting his father.
The father, overwhelmed by the attention the incident received, attributed all credit to his son, emphasizing Phoenix’s remarkable composure and empathy towards the disruptive passenger. Mr. Rose expressed gratitude for his son’s actions and reflected on the importance of helping others in need.
Authorities confirmed police presence at the scene, although no criminal activities were reported. Phoenix’s primary concern remains the well-being of the woman involved, showcasing his compassionate nature and genuine care for others.
