NS&I has revealed the results of the May 2026 Premium Bond draw, which includes the announcement of two fortunate winners each receiving £1 million. The first winner, who hails from Suffolk, holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds with the winning bond number 567VN857011 purchased in January 2024. Meanwhile, the second £1 million winner is from the Highlands and Islands area, holding £23,500 in Premium Bonds, with the winning bond number 643SE292364 acquired in September 2025.
Premium Bonds, a savings product by NS&I, offer a unique way to potentially win prizes each month instead of earning traditional interest on savings. The monthly prize draw includes a range of prizes from as small as £25 to as large as £1 million, although winning a prize every month is not guaranteed. Typically, there are many smaller prizes awarded compared to the number of larger sums given out.
To participate in the Premium Bonds prize draw, new bond purchases need to be held for a full calendar month. For every £1 invested in Premium Bonds, a unique bond number is generated, with odds of winning a prize each month estimated at 23,000 to 1 for every £1 bond.
Winners are notified by email or text message from NS&I and can choose to have their prize money deposited into their bank account or reinvested into Premium Bonds. The current prize fund rate stands at 3.3%, with the number of larger prizes slightly decreasing as the prize fund rate declines.
Despite the fluctuations in prize distribution, two £1 million prizes continue to be awarded each month, with over 24 million individuals currently holding Premium Bonds. Laura Suter, director of personal finance at AJ Bell, highlighted that the prize fund rate offers a comparison to traditional savings accounts, although the distribution of prizes is not evenly spread among savers due to the existence of substantial prize amounts.
