“Teacher Survives Clinical Death During Routine Surgery”

Date:

A woman, Hinda Abrahams, underwent a ‘routine procedure’ for a suspected ectopic pregnancy and experienced two instances of clinical death during the operation. The 28-year-old, a teacher, found herself in intensive care after an allergic reaction to general anesthesia caused her heart to stop twice, rendering her ‘dead’ for 20 seconds.

Her medical ordeal began when she started feeling abdominal pain and spotting on January 30. Despite being on a regular birth control regimen and recently having a normal period, she sought medical attention after her symptoms persisted. Doctors confirmed a suspected ectopic pregnancy and scheduled surgery to investigate and remove it.

However, complications arose during the surgery as Hinda’s heart stopped twice due to an anaphylactic reaction to the anesthesia. She was resuscitated successfully but faced challenges during her recovery, including pneumonia and signs of heart failure. Despite these issues, doctors believe she did not have any pre-existing heart conditions.

After spending three days in intensive care, Hinda slowly began to recuperate and is now at home, reflecting on the miraculous turn of events. She emphasizes the importance of not dismissing pregnancy tests, even if one is on birth control, as early detection could be life-saving in cases like hers.
