Pret A Manger has inaugurated its inaugural drive-thru in the UK as part of a new experiment. The drive-thru is now operational in Warrington, Cheshire, near junction 21 of the M6, in collaboration with Motor Fuel Group.
This move by Pret indicates its intention to broaden its presence in transportation and travel hubs, putting it in direct competition with established brands like Costa Coffee and Starbucks, which already offer drive-thru services. The renowned coffee chain currently operates 220 outlets in airports, train stations, and motorway service locations across the UK.
The newly opened drive-thru in Warrington features a dedicated lane for vehicles, complemented by a seating area for up to 48 patrons indoors. Additionally, the establishment offers EV charging stations and customer restroom facilities.
Notably, the complete Pret breakfast and lunch menu is available at the drive-thru, alongside a variety of popular snacks, hot and cold beverages, including smoothies. Ross Warnes, Pret A Manger’s UK and Ireland President, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion into travel and roadside locations, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to providing excellent service and freshly prepared food.
Motor Fuel Group’s Head of Food Service Operations, Jack Tindall, highlighted the significance of being Pret’s largest UK franchise partner and the pride in launching the first-ever drive-thru for the brand. The recent openings in Rownhams Westbound Services, Stafford Southbound Services, and Chester Services, in collaboration with Roadchef, underscore Pret’s strategic focus on travel-related expansion.
In March, Pret A Manger enhanced its menu offerings by introducing new items such as triple sandwiches and the return of popular favorites like the Sausage & Bacon Ciabatta hot roll. Customers can now enjoy a range of freshly prepared options, including the Thai Style Chicken Baguette and Shawarma Spiced Chicken Half Flatbread, further enriching the dining experience at Pret outlets nationwide.
