The body of a missing monk, identified as Justin Evans, 24, also known as Brother Ignatius, has been found in the water near a Scottish island.
Authorities in Scotland reported that a man’s body was discovered in the water last Wednesday at approximately 7:25 am. The body has been confirmed to be that of Mr. Evans, and his family has been notified.
Police have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, and a formal report has been filed with the procurator fiscal.
Mr. Evans, a member of the Redemptorist Community originally from New Zealand, went missing from the Golgotha Monastery on Papa Stronsay on April 12, with the last sighting being just before midnight on April 11, according to the Daily Record.
The Diocese of Aberdeen had previously expressed deep sorrow over the disappearance and presumed death of the 24-year-old.
