A father who had been married for less than a year tragically passed away after falling from a rooftop bar in Birmingham. Identified as Richard Ayling, the 40-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital the day following the incident at the Henman and Cooper bar on Colmore Row on May 3.
Mr. Ayling, who was employed in the rail sector, also served as a part-time firefighter and had a military background. According to Birmingham Live, an inquest into his death commenced at Birmingham Coroner’s Court and was subsequently adjourned.
His spouse, Amy, posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, accompanied by a video compilation of their moments together. She expressed her deep sorrow, stating, “A week ago today, my entire world changed forever. Every moment without you is burdensome, and the pain remains as fresh as ever. I miss you, my husband, more than words can convey.”
In another online homage, Richard Ayling was described as a “remarkable individual and exceptional soldier” who had recently wed and retired from the fire service.
A GoFundMe campaign was initiated to assist the family with funeral expenses, raising over £14,600. Duncan Watson, the fundraiser organizer, highlighted Mr. Ayling’s character, emphasizing his dedication as a loving father and his commitment to helping others through his work in the rail industry and as a firefighter. Watson noted the significant impact of Ayling’s untimely passing on all who knew him, underscoring his invaluable contributions to the community.
