A woman is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Huddersfield following a stabbing incident. The police responded to a call at Topaz Close, Fartown, after 10.30 pm last night (Monday) and discovered a 30-year-old woman with severe injuries to her leg and head. According to reports, two individuals assaulted her on the street and fled on an e-bike.
Crime scene investigators from West Yorkshire Police have cordoned off an area at the intersection of Sapphire Close and Aquamarine Drive. They are requesting anyone who witnessed the attack or has any footage to contact the authorities.
A police statement confirmed that the victim is in critical condition and stated, “Police were alerted at 10.37 pm on 11 May by the ambulance service regarding a stabbing incident in Huddersfield. Upon arrival, officers found the injured woman and she was taken to the hospital where she remains in a critical state. It is believed that two suspects carried out the attack and escaped on an e-bike.”
Detective Inspector Sarah Bradley from Kirklees CID mentioned that the authorities suspect the incident was targeted and the investigation is in its early stages. She emphasized the seriousness of the situation and highlighted the ongoing efforts, including door-to-door inquiries and CCTV examination.
DI Bradley added, “While it is early in the investigation, we believe this was a targeted attack and there is no immediate risk to the public. We urge anyone with information or who saw the suspects on an e-bike before the incident to come forward. Our collaboration with the local policing team aims to provide reassurance.”
