The family of a talented schoolgirl in Norfolk expressed their deep sorrow after her unexpected passing at home. Adriana Retyte, a 14-year-old enthusiastic football player known for spreading joy and laughter, passed away in the hospital two days after emergency services responded to her residence in Ashwellthorpe on the evening of May 8.
Despite receiving CPR on-site, Adriana was transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where she sadly succumbed on May 10. An initial inquest revealed that the cause of her death was hanging.
In a heartfelt message on Facebook, Adriana’s mother, Greta Saggers, mourned the loss of her beloved daughter, thanking everyone for their support during this challenging time. Greta, a managing director at Anglian Recruitment in Norwich, also collaborates with her husband Ben Saggers’s property firm, which sponsors various sports teams, including the one Adriana played for.
Tributes have poured in for Adriana through a fundraiser supporting Papyrus, a charity focused on youth suicide prevention. Friends and acquaintances reflected on Adriana’s vibrant spirit and the lasting impact she had on those around her.
Born in Drogheda, Ireland, on February 27, 2012, Adriana was a Year 9 student at Langley School in Norfolk. The school community expressed deep sadness over her passing, praising her for her kindness, positivity, and active involvement in school activities. A funeral service for Adriana is scheduled at St Faith’s Crematorium in Norwich.
