A 6-magnitude earthquake recently hit Hawaii, specifically around seven miles south of Honaunau in the South Kona region of Hawaii Island, as reported by the US Geological Survey. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that there was no tsunami threat following the earthquake, which occurred at 9:46 pm local time, with its epicenter located about 3.7 miles east-southeast of the Honaunau-Napoopoo area on the western side of Mauna Loa at a depth of 14 miles.
Shortly after, a second quake with a magnitude of 3.2 struck just six minutes later, slightly to the northwest of the initial earthquake and approximately 13 miles below the surface. Reports of shaking were widespread, with strong tremors felt across the state, reaching as far as Omao and Hanalei on the neighboring island of Kauai, according to Hawaii News Now.
Local residents took to social media to share their experiences of the earthquake. M. Makelani Tuha described feeling strong tremors in Honolulu, stating that the building in Kakaako shook intensely. Additionally, Komrad from Wahiawa mentioned the earthquake felt like a train shaking their house.
