The aircraft, an Airbus A320neo, abruptly stopped climbing at 3,700 feet due to a medical situation on board, causing it to return to Manchester.
The flight crew activated a Squawk 7700 code to signal a general in-flight emergency, prompting the pilots to follow emergency protocols before safely landing back at Manchester Airport. Upon arrival, local emergency crews and airport fire services were on standby as a precaution.
EasyJet later confirmed that the diversion was due to a medical emergency. This incident follows a previous emergency landing involving another EasyJet flight from Hurghada, Egypt, to Luton, which diverted to Rome. The passengers on the diverted flight were accommodated in hotels until the next scheduled flight to Luton the following day.
