“Police Face Hurdle in Prince Andrew Misconduct Probe”

Date:

Thames Valley Police faced a setback in the investigation involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as they attempted to contact the legal team of a potential victim. The individual, who alleged she was brought to the UK by Jeffrey Epstein to engage in activities with the former prince, has expressed her reluctance to cooperate with law enforcement.

The police inquiry, focusing on potential misconduct by Andrew in a public office, may extend to include accusations of sexual impropriety. Thames Valley Police made efforts to connect with the legal representatives of a woman reportedly taken to a location in Windsor on behalf of Andrew in 2010, assuring that any report from her would be treated seriously and sensitively. Andrew has consistently refuted any accusations of misconduct.

Despite reaching out to the woman’s legal counsel, the alleged victim’s US lawyer disclosed her decision not to engage with the authorities, citing concerns about safeguarding her privacy. The attorney, who has represented numerous individuals impacted by Epstein, recounted the woman’s claim of being shown around Buckingham Palace and having tea with Andrew during an overnight stay in 2010 when she was purportedly in her twenties.

In an update on the investigation, Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright urged individuals with relevant information to come forward, emphasizing the thoroughness and commitment of the investigative team. Thames Valley Police reiterated their readiness to handle any disclosures with care and respect for the privacy and anonymity of those involved.

The force assured that reporting incidents would be met with sensitivity and understanding, acknowledging the challenges victims face in sharing such experiences. They encouraged individuals to communicate information through established channels, emphasizing a supportive approach that respects the preferences and readiness of potential witnesses.
