Wendy Iles, a missing woman from Wiltshire, has been located, according to her daughter Louise. A search effort successfully located Wendy, aged 68, and her campervan, which had experienced a tire blowout.
However, Wendy’s springer spaniel, Beau, is still missing. Louise mentioned that the family is actively searching for Beau in Spain.
Family members contacted the police, including Interpol and authorities in the UK, after Wendy went missing. She was last heard from around 9 pm on Sunday in the Alfafar region near Valencia. Louise reported that Wendy seemed confused during their last conversation and that the campervan she was driving had been stolen.
Wendy, who was traveling from Cumbre del Sol to Caen, France to catch a ferry back to the UK, raised concerns when she failed to make her scheduled ferry connection.
Louise took action by alerting European and UK authorities due to worries that Wendy’s campervan and passports may have been stolen, especially after she missed important travel connections and turned off her phone.
She did not make the crossing on May 23.
In response to inquiries on an expat forum regarding the suspected theft of the vehicle, Louise stated, “I am basing this on our last conversation where she was without the vehicle and had reported it stolen.”
Louise also expressed frustration about the challenges in tracing her mother’s whereabouts.
“British authorities will not monitor her financial transactions until she is deemed high risk, and Spanish authorities will not initiate a search until 48 hours have passed,” she explained.
Louise mentioned that Wendy seemed disoriented during their last conversation and had not reached a hotel she was supposed to stay at while attempting to resolve issues with the camper van.
