Former President Donald Trump is contemplating headlining a festival marking America’s 250th birthday with a performer he claims outdraws Elvis Presley in his prime. Trump, 79, shared on social media that he is considering taking the stage at the Great American State Fair in Washington DC following the withdrawal of several prominent artists.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his thoughts on potentially showcasing himself as the main attraction, referring to himself as the “GOAT” and asserting his unmatched popularity. He hinted at delivering a significant speech and hosting an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally in the capital, emphasizing that only devoted patriots would be invited.
The festival, scheduled to span from June 25 to July 10, faced setbacks as multiple artists, including Young MC, Morris Day, The Commodores, Bret Michaels, and Martina McBride, opted out after feeling misled about the event’s political ties. Organized by Freedom 250, a nonprofit linked to the Trump administration, the festival encountered controversy due to perceived political affiliations.
Among the artists declining to participate, The Commodores publicly announced their decision not to perform at the event through an Instagram post, citing a commitment to remaining apolitical and supporting the welfare of all Americans. Similarly, Martina McBride expressed disappointment in being misled about the event’s nonpartisan nature, leading to her withdrawal.
As the festival organizers navigate these setbacks, the potential for Trump to step into the spotlight as a headline act remains a topic of speculation and intrigue.
