Passenger Criticizes Ryanair After Flight Diversion Leaves Travelers Stranded in France
A passenger expressed frustration towards Ryanair as travelers found themselves in a difficult situation after their flight was redirected and they were left stranded at an airport in France.
The flight originally scheduled from Manchester to Nantes was diverted to Tours Val de Loire Airport on Wednesday afternoon. Passengers reported waiting for hours without proper communication before being transported by coaches to Nantes, where they arrived later in the evening.
Some passengers had plans to continue their journey and had arranged car rentals, but upon arrival, they found that the car hire services had closed, leaving them without accommodations for the night.
According to passengers, the flight, which experienced a delayed departure from Manchester, circled around Nantes for approximately 30 minutes before being rerouted to Tours, a two-hour journey by land due to weather conditions cited by the pilot.
Sharon Norton, who was traveling with her husband, described their struggle to obtain travel information, mentioning the lack of assistance from Ryanair representatives at the airport. She highlighted the delays and the prolonged wait at Tours airport before being informed about coaches arranged by Ryanair to transfer them back to Nantes, significantly behind the original schedule.
While Sharon managed to reach a pre-booked apartment, others faced uncertainties about their accommodations. The lack of communication and assistance from Ryanair left many passengers feeling frustrated and disadvantaged, with some losing money, lodging, and transportation arrangements.
Another traveler, Alex Logen, shared concerns about the unavailability of accommodations in Nantes, leading to the possibility of spending the night rough sleeping due to the closure of car hire services and fully booked hotels upon their arrival.
Flight tracking data from FlightRadar displayed the aircraft’s path from Manchester southwards over the English Channel, circling over Nantes before diverting to Tours.
Efforts to reach Ryanair for comments on the situation have been made by Mirror.
