“Vehicle Fire Shuts Down UK’s M6 Highway”

Date:

A vehicle fire has caused a major shutdown on one of the United Kingdom’s busiest highways. The M6 in Staffordshire has been completely closed between junction 11 for Shareshill, Cannock, and junction 10A for the M54, as reported by National Highways.

According to the agency, the closure was necessary as a result of a vehicle catching fire in the southbound lane. The Staffordshire Fire Service was summoned to extinguish the flames, while National Highways personnel worked to manage traffic flow.

National Highways has confirmed on their website that the closure of the M6 was due to a car fire incident. A statement released by the agency indicated, “The M6 in Staffordshire is shut down southbound between junction 11 (Shareshill, Cannock) and junction 10A (M54) due to a car fire. Lane 3 has now reopened on the northbound side. Staffordshire Fire Service is at the scene, and National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting with traffic control. Vehicle recovery operations are in progress.”
