“17 Injured as Sightseeing Train Overturns in Cartama, Spain”

Date:

At least 17 individuals sustained injuries when a sightseeing train overturned in the city of Cartama, Spain. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm local time on Saturday, prompting emergency responders to quickly arrive at the scene, located approximately 10 miles from Malaga.

Witnesses captured images showing the tourist train’s carriage lying on its side on Santo Cristo road. While the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, authorities have confirmed that the train capsized while navigating a crossing.

More than a dozen people were hurt, receiving immediate medical attention from emergency teams. Following the incident, four individuals, including three children, were transported to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, none of the injuries are believed to be severe.

Reports indicate that around 30 passengers were onboard the train at the time of the mishap. As a result, the train service has been halted for the weekend, and law enforcement authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident.

The tourist train was in operation as part of the local event “la Ruta de la Tapa y el Coctel,” which promotes exploring various businesses in the city and sampling their products. This annual festival, running from June 10 to 14, involves the train making stops at different venues, with tourists provided a map marking out the locations.

Cartama is in proximity to two popular destinations among British tourists – Malaga and the renowned resort town of Marbella.
