“Swedish Man Imprisoned for Forcing Wife into Sexual Activities”

Date:

A 61-year-old man from Sweden has been sentenced to four years and five months in prison for forcing his wife to engage in sexual activities with over 120 men. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found guilty of several charges, including aggravated pimping, attempted rape, assault, and making unlawful threats, after a trial in the Ångermanland region in northern Sweden.

During the court proceedings in Härnösand, it was revealed that the man manipulated his wife by administering drugs, keeping her isolated on their secluded farm in Kramfors, and taking advantage of her limited social interactions. He utilized surveillance cameras on the property to document sexual encounters and threatened violence against her, including death threats, arson, and mutilation, as recounted by the court.

Earlier this year, prosecutors suspected that the man had arranged for his wife to have sexual relations with at least 120 men, leading to charges against 29 individuals for purchasing sexual services. Of those charged, 28 were found guilty of a total of 56 offenses, resulting in two individuals being incarcerated, according to the court records.

The prosecutors stated that men traveled from various parts of the country to the farm to engage in sexual activities with the victim in 2022. Her suffering came to an end when she reported her husband to the authorities in October 2025, leading to his arrest and subsequent imprisonment.

This case has drawn comparisons to the infamous situation in France involving Dominique Pelicot, who facilitated the rape of his then-wife, Gisele, by numerous men over a nine-year span.

Following a recent hearing that concluded in late May, the court dismissed the defendant from eight rape charges and three attempted rape charges. The court found it challenging to establish the involuntary involvement of the complainant in seven instances and the nature of the sexual acts in another case.

Judge Johan Ahlberg stated, “the man coerced and influenced his wife to engage in sexual acts, broadcast them online, entertain additional clients, and encourage neighbors and customers to have sexual relations with her.” The coercion often involved persistent pressure and derogatory language.

In addition to the prison term, the man was ordered to pay 200,000 kronor (£15,900) in damages to his wife. Despite denying any wrongdoing, he argued that he was facilitating consensual encounters.

Under Swedish law, the purchase and facilitation of sex are criminalized, while the sale of sex by sex workers is not considered illegal, as they are viewed as exploited victims.
