A woman was taken into custody for posting a critical video about her vacation. Yass Naubelle was stopped by border officials on Saturday, June 13, just before she was about to board her flight back to France. The 30-year-old influencer had shared a viral video expressing dissatisfaction with her holiday in Marrakech, Morocco, particularly targeting local authorities and driving practices in the region.
Upon attempting to pass through security for her return flight, Yass was detained at Marrakech Menara Airport by airport police. Moroccan authorities arrested her based on a national warrant, alleging that her video defamed Moroccan citizens and disrespected law enforcement. She is currently being held by the police for investigation into her actions, which are suspected to involve the dissemination of defamatory and insulting digital content towards citizens and a public institution.
In the video, now removed, Yass criticized the chaotic road conditions in Marrakech, highlighting the risky behaviors of drivers. She compared the driving standards in Morocco unfavorably to those in Algeria and accused traffic police of unjustly targeting women for bribes.
Following the video’s circulation, Yass attracted attention from authorities, resulting in her arrest at the airport. Despite her popularity on TikTok with over 20,000 followers, she remains in custody in Morocco with no official charges or court dates disclosed at this time.
