“England Fans’ Honeymoon Surprise: Cheering Three Lions in Texas”

Date:

England football enthusiasts Lauren and James Portwood are currently in Texas, showing their support for the Three Lions on their honeymoon. The newlyweds tied the knot earlier this month, and James decided to surprise his new wife with a trip to the United States to cheer on Thomas Tuchel’s team. The couple had been planning this special honeymoon since they got engaged in 2024. Lauren expressed her excitement, stating that an England victory would be the perfect wedding gift, while James mentioned that it would be a memorable few days.

James, 36, works as an accountant, and Lauren, 41, is in customer service. Both loyal supporters of Leicester City, they reside in West Bridgford, Notts, and have four children – Lexi (17), Elise (16), Teddy (6), and Charlie (3).

This marks James’ third World Cup attendance and Lauren’s first. They secured tickets at face value and intend to return if England reaches the final. Following the match, they plan to spend a few days in Las Vegas before heading back to England. Their decision to visit the US was made back in 2016, with Lauren humorously calling it a strategic move.

The couple exchanged vows at Makeney Hall in Derbyshire on June 3. England is set to receive support from an estimated 10,000 fans in Dallas, with additional expats likely boosting the attendance at the Dallas Cowboys stadium. Notably, Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended his best wishes to the team, expressing optimism about England’s chances in the tournament.

David Beckham, a renowned former England captain, kickstarted his journey to fame in Texas. During his teenage years, he stayed with a Mexican-American woman named Christine, who affectionately referred to him as ‘Little Davie.’ Beckham’s first autographs were signed during his stay with the Alcalas in Dallas, where he participated in a football exchange program. Despite his subsequent success in the sport, he remains fondly remembered as ‘Little Davie’ by the woman who cared for him.
