Three individuals have lost their lives in a fire that broke out in west London on Saturday evening, as confirmed by the London Fire Brigade. The incident occurred on New Zealand Way, prompting the dispatch of approximately 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines to combat the blaze that began around 6:52 pm following 19 emergency calls.
London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Pat Goulbourne, speaking at the scene in White City, stated that a single-story pavilion was mostly affected by the fire, with three men rescued from the structure. Tragically, two of the men succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the third individual was transported to a hospital but also later passed away.
Emergency responders managed to bring the fire under control by 9:25 pm after receiving the initial report at 6:52 pm. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the specialized fire investigation officers of the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service, according to Mr. Goulbourne.
