Man’s Dental Treatment in Turkey Leads to £40,000 Repair Costs

Date:

A man traveled to Turkey for dental treatment and is now facing significant issues with his teeth, potentially needing costly repairs amounting to £40,000. Danny Tomlinson, 47, was dissatisfied with his teeth, describing them as misaligned, discolored, and stained. Initially quoted £3,500 for a full set of crowns and an additional dental implant after his natural teeth were reshaped, Danny’s bill escalated to £3,900. However, problems arose shortly after he returned home.

Danny, a wall and floor tiler from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, admitted to making an impulsive decision without conducting research or seeking advice before traveling to Turkey for the dental procedure. Despite being initially content with the results, noting they appeared improved, he soon realized that his lower teeth were becoming loose, contrary to his expectations of the treatment lasting for several years.

Over the past six years, Danny has made multiple return trips to the Turkish clinic as issues with his teeth persisted. Despite these visits, the clinic only performed cleaning without addressing the underlying problems until they eventually informed him that his lower teeth required replacement. During his most recent visit just a month ago, the clinic revealed that numerous teeth were loose, quoting him £12,500 for further necessary work.

Experiencing loose teeth, difficulty eating, and constant fear of potential tooth loss, Danny expressed regret over his decision to have his teeth reshaped and wished he had opted for braces instead. He highlighted his struggles with eating, the discomfort of loose teeth, and the looming risk of teeth falling out. Danny anticipates needing implants, each costing £3,000, to address the dental issues but has ruled out returning to Turkey for treatment due to the escalating costs and uncertainties.

In conclusion, Danny cautioned others against seeking dental treatment in Turkey based on his experience, advising against undergoing extensive procedures like tooth reshaping without exploring alternative options. He emphasized the financial burden and emotional distress caused by the ongoing dental issues and encouraged individuals to seek advice from local dentists before making significant decisions about their dental health.
