“Community urged to attend funeral for man with no known relatives”

Date:

In a touching plea, a funeral director is urging the local community to attend the funeral of a man who passed away without any known relatives. Patrick McNally, a resident of West Belfast, peacefully departed at a hospice in NI recently. His obituary described him as a “loving son” and a “beloved brother.”

Mallon Brothers Funeral Directors, after Patrick’s demise, utilized social media to disclose the details of his funeral and the commemoration of his life. Given that Patrick had no contact with his only living sibling, there are no family members available to participate in his funeral. Consequently, the directors have made a heartfelt request to the community to come forward and support Patrick on his final journey.

“McNally Patrick, passed away peacefully at the N.I hospice on June 22, 2026, (formerly of 306 Glen Road),” the funeral directors penned. “A cherished son of the late Mary and John. A beloved brother of Gerard, the late John-Joseph, and Bridget, Uncle, Cousin, and friend, RIP. Funeral arrangements will be announced. St Pio, pray for him.”

Regrettably, Patrick has no immediate family left. His sole surviving brother has not been in contact with him for over 50 years, and there are no known next of kin. The directors firmly believe that every individual deserves remembrance and honor.

The directors extended a sincere invitation to the West Belfast community to attend Patrick’s funeral and bid him a proper farewell, as reported by Belfast Live. “If you had any connection with Patrick during his lifetime, whether as a neighbor, friend, colleague, acquaintance, or if you simply want to show kindness and respect, we welcome you to join us,” they expressed.

“Your presence, regardless of its duration, would ensure that Patrick is remembered, and that his final journey is dignified, accompanied by companionship and care. Together, we can give Patrick a fitting send-off and demonstrate that every life is significant, and each person leaves a mark in the world. No one should depart without companionship.”
