Forecast maps for next Monday show potential highs of 35C to 36C across southern, eastern, and central England, with temperatures reaching 33C in Yorkshire and 31C in South Wales. Subsequently, temperatures are projected to soar to unprecedented levels on Tuesday, with highs of 40C and 41C forecasted from Yorkshire to London and the eastern regions, before cooling down slightly on Wednesday.
Temperature anomaly maps for next Tuesday depict the UK shaded in red and black, signifying temperatures well above the seasonal average. The GFS model suggests that up to 17 counties in England could experience temperatures exceeding 40C.
The Met Office has indicated that a return to heatwave conditions is increasingly probable in the coming week. However, the likelihood of extreme high temperatures similar to those seen last week remains low, according to national weather agency forecasts. Met Office forecaster Tony Wisson mentioned that temperatures could reach the high 20s in parts of England and possibly hit 30C in the southeast this weekend.
