During a family vacation in Mallorca, a holidaymaker named Tom Caunce took action against fellow tourists who habitually reserved prime poolside loungers by sprinkling itching powder on their towels. Tom, a 31-year-old from Southport, recorded the act and shared it online, targeting what he referred to as “repeat offenders” who claimed the same loungers daily before disappearing.
Expressing his frustration with the early morning rush to secure sunbeds, Tom stated, “Many of us have experienced the struggle of obtaining a sunbed on vacation, enduring early wake-up calls just for a chance at a decent spot. On my recent trip, I decided to put an end to this and opt for a light-hearted form of payback.”
After observing guests repeatedly reserving loungers before vanishing, Tom first targeted a woman in her late 40s and her husband who consistently reserved beds without utilizing them much. Despite an initial setback when the woman quickly discovered the itching powder, Tom persisted with his plan.
On another occasion, Tom witnessed a couple making a beeline for the same loungers and discreetly applied itching powder to a hotel towel. The man, unknowingly using the tainted towel, eventually succumbed to the irritation, seeking relief in the pool after continuous scratching.
As the situation unfolded, the affected holidaymaker inadvertently exacerbated the itchiness by using the towel to dry off, leading to a full-body scratching episode. Tom recounted how the man eventually abandoned sunbathing, seeking refuge under an umbrella for the remainder of the day, capturing the amusing reactions on film.
The humorous videos garnered a total of 864,000 views and over 13,000 likes, sparking mixed reactions among social media users. While some found the prank entertaining and labeled it as genius, others criticized the act, emphasizing the importance of fair behavior by discouraging such actions unless necessary.
The incident occurred on June 6 and 7 in Majorca, showcasing a playful retaliation against the age-old dilemma of sunbed reservation tactics.
