A community is in shock following a tragic incident where one child was airlifted to a hospital while twin girls, aged 15 months, were found deceased at the same residence. The parents have been accused of neglect that led to the death of one of their children. The twins were discovered lifeless in their bed in Beuvrages, near Valenciennes, France. The parents, aged 32 and 35, were formally charged on July 1 for the incident.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the twins died from dehydration and were underweight. Their four other siblings, aged three to six, living in the same home, were also found to be dehydrated, with one in critical condition after being airlifted to the hospital. The family resides in social housing managed by Société immobilière du Grand Hainaut (SIGH).
The parents are currently in custody following their formal charges, as confirmed by the Valenciennes prosecutor’s office. The surviving siblings have been placed under the care of Child Welfare Services. Reports indicate that the family had not been under juvenile court supervision prior to the incident, as stated by LeParisien. The mayor of Beuvrages mentioned that the family had recently moved to the area just two months before the tragic event.
