A 13-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after a shark bit him on the thigh while fishing on a boat in the United States. Witnesses recounted that the boat was swiftly brought to shore, where bystanders rushed to aid the boy before emergency services arrived in McIntosh County, Georgia.
The incident occurred near Ossabaw Island, approximately 20 miles south of Savannah, on a Wednesday afternoon. The Coast Guard confirmed that the victim was transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
Upon docking, the father urgently sought medical help for his injured son. The teenager, accompanied by two others and his father, was fishing when the shark attacked and clamped onto his thigh.
A witness, Terry Tatum, described observing a distressing situation unfold as the injured boy was brought ashore. The teenagers on the boat explained that they had caught a large shark, which bit the young man’s thigh while they were attempting to release it.
BJ Comer, a volunteer from McIntosh County EMS, also rushed to assist at the dock. She quickly retrieved a first aid kit, anticipating the need for a tourniquet, as emergency services arrived to transport the injured teenager for further medical attention.
