A mother who tragically passed away following a car accident in Spain will be laid to rest this Friday. Amy McCullagh, on vacation at the time, was in the car with her husband and two others when the vehicle plummeted into a ravine. Her husband, Ian McCullagh, is still hospitalized in critical condition.
Amy, a mother of three from County Westmeath, Ireland, lost her life alongside Michaela Newcombe and Mark McCullagh. Ian, the brother of Mark, also suffered serious injuries but survived the crash. The group was on holiday in Malaga when their car veered off the A7 motorway, falling 100 feet down a ravine in the early hours of June 28.
The funeral service for Amy will take place at the Church of the Nativity in Ballynacargy, as reported by the Irish Mirror. She will be laid to rest at Sonna Cemetery. Amy is survived by her husband and three children, who have requested donations to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in her honor.
In a heartfelt tribute, Amy’s family described her as a beloved daughter and shared their deep sorrow over the tragic accident that also claimed the lives of Mark and Michaela. Michaela, who was a head receptionist at a beauty school, was remembered as a kind and vibrant soul by colleagues and friends.
The local community, represented by Sinn Féin councillor Julie McCourt, expressed shock and solidarity with the families affected by the heartbreaking loss. The tragedy has deeply impacted the town of Mullingar and beyond, with condolences pouring in for the victims and their loved ones.
